Hewlett Packard Success Story

David Packard and William Hewlett, both Stanford University graduates, decided to start their own business in 1934. They opened their first workshop in 1937 with a $538 investment and an old drilling machine as a tool. Thus began Hewlett Packard’s (HP) journey.

David and William started making audio oscillators for $54.50. The Walt Disney Studios were their first customer. She spent money on audio generators in order to make the Fantasy cartoon. During World War II, 1939-1945, they worked on government orders, which contributed to the company’s rapid growth. Frederick Terman, a Stanford University professor who vouched for them in obtaining a loan, assisted them in obtaining the largest government orders. He later worked as a consultant for Hewlett-Packard.

Following the war, the country experienced a crisis, and the corporation lost government contracts, but this did not stop it from hiring the best engineers. The organization had a friendly working environment, and its employees were able to blend their personal interests with the company’s objectives. Employee feedback has always been taken into account at Hewlett-Packard. David and William were the first to develop the management system that is currently used by many businesses.

Hewlett-Packard built its first facility in 1942 with the intention of converting it into a grocery store if the company went bankrupt. The HP 2116A, HP’s first personal computer, was released in 1966 as a controller for measuring devices. The invention and construction of the world’s first calculator, however, was the main event. Bill Hewlett was the one who started it all. 100,000 calculating devices were sold in just one year. Hewlett-Packard was also listed on the Fortune 500.

HP was the first to produce printers; she was the first to produce inkjet and laser printers, which were made available to the entire world’s population. From the 1940s to the 1990s, the company specialized in the manufacture of electronic test equipment such as oscillators, signals, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, frequency meters, thermometers, time standards, wave analyzers, and a variety of other instruments. The pushing of the measurement range and accuracy boundaries was a distinguishing feature; many HP products were more sensitive, reliable, and accurate than comparable equipment.

Hewlett-success Packard’s is based not only on cutting-edge technology but also on the right management style. Many modern businesses have adopted HP’s leadership style. Hewlett-Packard was the English football team Tottenham’s sponsor from 1995 to 1998.

Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard have been lifelong friends and business partners. They lived in the neighborhood and spent a lot of time with their families. The company’s name was chosen at random. Young comrades tossed a coin into the air to see if it landed on heads or tails.
